The End Of Term

It is the end of term and I am summing up what we have achieved.
This term we have done a lot such as…….
• Traveled around and looked at how bad the Hautapu River really was( it was in a very poor state)
• Tested the river down by the school.
• We did a movie on all the people who litter
• We made an impact on the awareness of how bad the Hautapu River Really was.
• Ect
That is just some of the things that we did and we are hoping to carry this class on next term. I have learned a lot this term and I couldn’t think of a better way of spending my Friday than with my class mates. Here are some of the things that I have achieved this term……
• I have achieved a blog successfully,
• Written a add for the newspaper ,
• And have help raise awareness of the condition of the Hautapu River.
• And made new friends.
Those are just some of the things I have learned.

Thank you for writing comments for my blog. I much appreciated them and I liked the feed back.

What Happens Next

Today our class is deciding on what to do for our class camp to Wellington.
We have just decided on what we will need to bring and how much money we will need to bring.
These are some of the things we will need to bring…..
· Uniform
· Appropriate mufti (warm clothing)
· Sleeping bag (maybe)
· Pillow
· Spending money (can bring it but don’t have to)
We did a lot of debating on what to do but we have figured it out. It took us a while but we did it within about half an hour.
In the second period we watched a movie called “An Inconvenient Truth” by Al Gore. It was a great movie and it inspired the Whole class to think twice about what we are doing to the world. It had a lot of information about what is happening to our Earth!

Our class has achieved a lot this term such as
· Exposure about the river,
· Awareness of what is happening to the river,
· New friendships in this class,
· Our blogs,
· Our Wiki Space,
· Communicating with people around the world.
We also have set goals for the rest of the term, they are…….
· An Assembly presentation
· A class trip.

Thanks update soon

Rubbish Walk

We have just gone for a walk around the Houtapu River.
It was a thilthy site to see.
There was
· Plastic Bags
· Dead sheep
· Fertilizer
It made me feel sick to the stomach it really did.
That is why we are trying to think of ways that we can change and try to think
Of ways of getting it around the community.Ur class is trying to help the river to look its best.

River Testing

Today our class went down to the river by the school to see what sort of water it was:
  • Excellent
  • Average
  • Poor or......
  • Very poor

we were excited to find out that the water seemed to be at an average. We looked for Fungi, bug and stuff like that. At first We all had a bit of trouble getting down but in the end we all made it. It was so much fun finding things and the water was exceptionally cold at chilly 10 degrees. Our teacher Mrs Hansen had abit of a fall but it was too bad for us we were all in front and didn't see it.

It was all very exciting and we all had alot of fun

I will keep you posted....

The issue has been decided!!!

THE ISSUE HAS BEEN DECIDED!!!
We have finally decided what issue we would like to take on.
We have decided on the Hautapu river mater. We not yet thought of how we are going to do this but we will.
we decided on this topic because we thought that it might be easier than the recycle topic as to we would have to go through the Council.

Hello World

Hello my name is Cody Sutherland and this is my blog for my leadership class.
I am currently living in the North Island of NEW ZEALAND.
My class will be deciding on a topic that could be upgraded or replaced in the community.

these are some of the ideas that we have come up with.
  • open a cinema/movie theater
  • plastic bag free-taihape
  • recycling
  • better grandstand
  • more youth sports opportunities
  • better tasting water/cleaning it up

these are some questions and answers about me.

the thing i like the most about Taihape is? That Taihape is a nice community and will help you if you are lost or trying to find a particular shop they will help you out.

The thing I like the least about Taihape is? That when you walk down the main street you see plastic-bags lying around and the town water always has a dirt taste and there arnt proper clothing shops like Gleason's or Cotton-on

If I were mare of Taihape I would? I would put more rubbish bins around town because Taihape is laking of them. And I would give the town a makeover such as a new paint job on the shops and cafes.

if I had $10,000 to spend on the community I would......make an out side pool and a playground and a new car park at the playground.

In my class we have some class guidelines and they are.......

  • participate
  • get your work done
  • be open to other peoples ideas
  • respect others and their resources

So make sugestions
